ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION 
The Supervisor of the Animal Control Division was formerly known as the Animal Control Officer. This Division under the auspices of the Police Division of the Public Safety Dept. and according to Municipal Code performs all appropriate functions with regard to maintaining public safety while sharing the City with animals, including:
- Enforcement of Municipal Codes relating to animals
- Responsible for capture, containment and proper disposition of strays at large, or potentially dangerous domestic animals
- Oversee conformance with City Animal Licensing standards
- Meet State of New Jersey animal cruelty and safety standards
- Prepare Division annual budget
The Division of Animal Control does not issue dog licenses. All dogs living in the City of Burlington over the age of 6 months must be licensed annually. Cats need not be licensed.
Dog licenses are available from the Health Division / Registrar of Vital Statistics, 9am–5pm M–F at:

Be prepared to provide:
• certificate of rabies vaccination
• proof of spaying or neutering, if done.
Fees are:
Dogs spayed or neutered: $8/yr.
Dogs NOT spayed or neutered: $11/yr.
Dog licenses should be renewed each calendar year during the month of January, or the owner will be assessed a late fee!
Dog Licenses are no longer offered at Keegan Center.
