The Municipal Clerk is appointed by Common Council and performs all appropriate functions with respect to City recordkeeping, including:
- Serves as Clerk of the Council, keep its minutes and records of its proceedings
- Maintain and compile Council ordinances and resolutions
- Secretary to the Governing Body
- Secretary of the Municipal Corporation
- Chief Administrative Officer of all Elections
- Chief Registrar of Voters (see Map: Voting Wards)
- Issue Various Permits (see below)
The municipal clerk shall, prior to his appointment, have been qualified by training or experience to perform the duties of the office.
