City of Burlington Official Online Resource Accessibility
We endeavor to make this site accessible to the widest variety of
users with differing needs, using various technologies. This site
pursues the following standards for content delivery and accessibility:
Pages are coded toward HTML 4.01 Transitional.
Styles are formatted using the Cascading Style Sheets 1 & 2 specification.
All pages are designed with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
in mind. When practicable, content and links are accessible via alternative
text. Image maps are eschewed, in favor of methods less reliant on
visual acuity. Care has been taken to ensure sufficient contrast
in type matter for readability. Significant images are annotated
with alternative captional information. Visitors’ Browser preferences
will affect the site’s appearance, so that challenged individuals
may be more comfortable when viewing the content.
JavaScript is principally relegated to navigational highlighting,
and cookies are used only when necessary.
Our goal has been to make this site accessible to the broadest population
practical. Most of the recent versions of popular web browsers will
display our pages fairly accurately. Browsers Microsoft® Internet
Explorer® version 4 and later, and Netscape® Navigator® or
Communicator® version 4 and later will fare best.
