As Councilperson of Ward 1, I represent the interests of City residents of Voting Ward 1, ( Map: Voting Wards ) the area commonly referred to as New Yorkshire and Historic Yorkshire neighborhoods and part of East Burlington. Councilperson Ward 1 Profile | page topTERM OF SERVICE 4 years, Jan. 1, 2010 to Dec. 31, 2013 EDUCATION A lifelong resident of the City of Burlington, Barry William Conaway was educated in the Burlington City School system, graduating from Burlington City High School in 1980. He then attended and received a BS degree in Occupaional Safety and Hygience Management from Millersville University, in Lancaster, PA. EMPLOYMENT Mr. Conaway joined Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc. in 1987, where he is a Health and Safety Manager with 20 years of experience working as a Site Health and Safety Officer (SHSO at hazardous waste sites. He is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and a certified Health and Safety Technologist. He also is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, Board of Certified Safety Professionals, and Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologists. COMMUNITY During the urban renewal years in Burlington, Barry watched his family's tireless efforts to relocate in the City. When it was time for him to purchase his home, he chose to make residence"the City." PERSPECTIVE Barry Conaway will aggressively pursue "qualityof life" issues for all residents of the City of Burlington, NJ. In his youth, he participated in Boy Scouts and on Baseball, Football, and Wrestling teams, and he therefore understands the benefits and necessity of providing wholesome, character-building activities for our youth.
