 Chief
John A. Lazzarotti is a twenty-one year member of the City of Burlington
Police Department. Chief Lazzarotti was appointed head of the
agency on January 1, 2005 by Mayor Darlene Scocca. Chief Lazzarotti
is responsible for the day to day operations of the police department
which currently includes thirty two full time officers, eighteen
part time officers, eighteen crossing guards, one animal control
officer and three records clerks. Prior to his appointment,
he spent eleven years as a patrol officer, two years as a detective,
four years as a sergeant and two years as a lieutenant. Early
in his career, Chief Lazzarotti was assigned to the Burlington County
Narcotics Task Force as an undercover officer.
Chief Lazzarotti is a graduate of the New
Jersey Certified Public Managers Program recognized by Fairleigh
Dickinson University. Chief Lazzarotti is also designated by
the New Jersey State Association of Chief’s of Police as a
Certified Law Enforcement Executive. Chief Lazzarotti maintains
New Jersey Police Training Commission Certifications as in instructor
in firearms and physical training. Chief Lazzarotti is a New
Jersey state certified emergency medical technician and firefighter.
Chief Lazzarotti currently serves on the Burlington County Joint
Tactical Team Leadership Panel, and had previously served on the
Team for eighteen years as an operator and supervisor.
Chief Lazzarotti is an active member
of the New Jersey State Association of Chief’s of Police, and
is the Vice President of the Burlington County Chief’s of Police
Association. Chief Lazzarotti is a charter member of the Burlington
City Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 63, and past secretary of the
lodge.
Chief Lazzarotti is married and has two
sons.
