K-9 UNIT

The City of Burlington Police K-9 Unit began service in April, 2001. As the K-9 Unit enjoyed much success, a second team was added. The K-9 Units patrol regularly, and are on-call 24 hours a day. These well-trained police animals can track for lost persons, fugitive criminals, and articles. They are also adept at building and field searches, criminal apprehension, and handler protection. Some have received narcotics detection training.

Sergeant Snow and Rocky

Sergeant Snow was a canine handler for five years with his canine partner Rocky. Rocky is an eight-year-old German Shepherd who was imported to the United States from Czechoslovakia.
Sergeant Snow and canine Rocky attended the Philadelphia Police Canine Academy. Canine Rocky learned obedience, tracking for lost persons and criminals, building and field searche, article searches and criminal apprehension. Both graduated in the spring of 2000 after six months of training. Canine Rocky specializes in the detection of narcotics and was certified through the United States Police Canine Association. The K-9 team was responsible for numerous felony arrests with convictions.

Canine Rocky has recently retired from patrol duties but still continues to attend community functions.

Patrolman Lambing and Odie

Patrolman Lambing has been a canine handler for three years with his partner Odie. Canine Odie is a four-year old male German Shepherd who was imported from Czechoslovakia to the United States.

Patrolman Lambing and Canine Odie attended the Philadelphia Police Canine Academy. Canine Odie learned obedience, tracking for lost persons and criminals, building and field searches, article searches and criminal apprehension. Canine Odie specializes in the detection of explosives. Both graduated in the spring of 2006 after six months of training. Patrolman Lambing is a member of the United States Police Canine Association. Patrolman Lambing and Canine Odie are responsible for a number of apprehensions of suspects and arrests.

Patrolman Perro and Duce

Patrolman Robert Perro is a two-year veteran of the City of Burlington Police Department. This is Patrolman Perro’s first time as a canine handler for the City of Burlington. Patrolman Perro’s canine partner’s name is Duce. Duce is a 14-month-old German Shepherd who was imported to the United States from Czechoslovakia.

Patrolman Perro and canine Duce attended the Philadelphia Police Canine Academy. Canine Duce learned obedience, tracking for lost persons and criminals, building and field searches, article searches and criminal apprehension. Both graduated the Academy in January of 2007 after several months of training.

Patrolman Wisniewski and Mic

Patrolman Wiesniewski has been a canine handler for five years with his canine partner, Mic. Mic is a seven-year-old male German Shepherd who was imported from Hungary to the United States.

Patrolman Wiesniewski and canine Mic attended the Philadelphia Police Canine Academy. Canine Mic learned obedience, tracking for lost persons and criminals, building and field searches, article searches and criminal apprehension. Both graduated in the spring of 2002 after four months of training. Patrolman Wiesniewski is a member of the United States Police Canine Association. Patrolman Kwasniewski and canine Mic were involved in multiple arrests with convictions.
