The season begins in December with practice until the wrestling matches begin in January and ends with Grapevine Tournament in March.
The registration fee is $20.00 ($30.00 family) and includes the uniform and headgear. Each wrestler is responsible for purchasing their wrestling shoes.
The program is lead by Jim Carcanague, and under his leadership, the coaches have produced a wonderful program. Our wrestlers compete in two tournaments a year. The Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic is the official coach’s clinic used by the Recreation Division and the Burlington City athletic associations to qualify volunteers for potential coaching positions in all sports sponsored by the city and the associations.
Created by the Rutgers University Youth Sports Council, the Rutgers S.A.F.T.E.Y. Clinic provides a comprehensive guide to coaches and parents alike with expert advice on preventing injuries, building health fitness and improving sports programs.
The City of Burlington Division of Recreation and the athletic associations make the attendance of a clinic a prerequisite for volunteer coaches in all our sport programs.
The clinic is a one time 3-hour course taught by a certified clinician as needed.
There is no cost to residents of the City of Burlington. Since 1999, we have certified over 200 volunteer coaches and parents involved in baseball, softball, basketball, wrestling, cheerleading and football.
If you are interested in being certified, call the Recreation Division M–F 9am–5pm 609-386-4070 for the date of the next clinic.
A Criminal Background Check is required of, and performed on, all volunteers participating in the Recreation Programs.
