City of Burlington, NJ
Public Meeting Notice
Opportunity Zone Program
On September 24, 2019, from 7 to 10 PM, the City of Burlington will host a public meeting in the Council Chambers at 525 Hight Street to provide information on the new Opportunity Zone Program.
The City has the recent distinction of being one of only 75 municipalities in New Jersey receiving Federal Opportunity Zone Status. This unique designation provides a new program and catalyst for the investment of private capital in eligible projects from a range of potential corporate and business interests.
The Burlington Opportunity Zone is bounded by High Street to the south, U.S. Route 130 to the east, Assiscunk Creek to the north, and the Delaware River to the west.
One of the key considerations that potential Opportunity Zone investors want to understand as they propose possible projects is the extent to which a given project will receive support from residents, city officials, and other community stakeholders. In collaboration with Triad Associates, an Opportunity Zone Strategic Plan has been drafted, in which seven potential project sites and development concepts have been identified. A public meeting has been scheduled for Sept. 24 in City Hall to discuss these possibilities.
If you are a resident or business person living in, owning property in, or just having an interest in the City of Burlington Opportunity Zone, you are invited to attend this meeting to hear some of the ideas being proposed. Your participation is welcome and encouraged.
Barry W. Conaway, Mayor
