  • Is the Board of Island Managers REALLY America's oldest continual educational trust?

  • What progress has been made, what will become of Burlington Island, and will it ever be developed?

The present Board has held more meetings and work sessions than ever. Professional Planner Marc Shuster has been placed under contract to the Board of Island Managers. Mr. Shuster has great deal of experience working with the City and its environs. He'll help attract the right developer, so all may benefit from this great opportunity. Common Council and its President Douglas Ghaul helped to distribute this information, in the new spirit of cooperation embodied by the newly-formed Joint Steering Committee. This alliance of the Island's two proprietors offers many advantages. Information sharing. Single-source intelligence. A unified point of approach for potential developers, to fast-track interactions and eliminate duplication of effort and realize economies of increased efficiency. The combined effort will increase our opportunities. In the words of current Board President Joseph C. Abate, "We're going to bring the Island back to the people, to work for the education of youth, and the future of Burlington."
