The Director of the Department of Public Affairs, under the supervision of the Mayor and Administrator, performs all appropriate functions respecting City Public Affairs, including:
An almost literal interpretation of the departments name has allowed us to assist almost everyone from residents, to business groups; from the police department to city officials, and more. In the past, we have co-sponsored events; vaccinated dogs and cats; planted flowers; completed mass mailings; hosted tall ships; played sports from football to baseball; launched boats; safety-trained coaches; installed new basketball courts; made arts & crafts projects; picked up litter; and more.
In order to accomplish our objectives, the department of public affairs works closely with other city departments, especially the Public Works and Public Safety departments
Public Affairs Department operates under the leadership of John Alexander, who has worked since 1979 in radio, print, and other media for public and private individuals and organizations. He also has been active in State, County, and municipal educational and government efforts since 1987.
